Night Journey
There’s a sailing ship that plies the skies
To a castle in the clouds
Far from the world’s mundane worries
And far from the maddening crowds
In its hold it carries a cargo
Of oft visited lovers’ dreams
All of their hopes and ambitions
And all of their childish schemes
Its passengers all come aboard her
In the wee dark hours of the night
When the whole world is lost in slumber
And the stars are its only light
Hand in hand they pass up the gangway
Like a mist floating over the ground
As silent as wraiths in the night hours
Their hearts’ beating the only sound
As the ship casts off on its journey
Her passengers all stare in wonder
And are lost in the glow from each others’ eyes
The source of the spell they’ve come under
So I’ll ask you if one day you’ll join me
On that ship to the castle above
The only ticket that we will require
Is to be fully and truly in love.
