No, Pretentious Heart

No, pretentious heart...
you judge me unfairly,
I've stood by you until now;
people don't change quickly!
of regret leaves² a mark, it's guilt...
and it won't allow tomorrow
to offer us the joys we deserve,
instead, it tickles a nerve!

I love being in love, being spoiled,
I don't mind being a puppet
of your most extreme fantasy:
that's what makes me happy!
I stare at you and you melt
my doubts, if they were thinner than fog
dispersed by the breeze of the evening:
nothing is sweeter than your new song!

No, pretentious heart...
be sincere in each truth
that is a radiant sun
when always gives off light;
hoping it's not a ridiculous pun
to smother me with little worth!

Find those lips that tell no hurting lies,
have they learned that it's foolishness
to say silly things in strange settings?
Hearts that keep the flame burning
have never betrayed their darling!
