Oh My Lady, Oh My Daughter
Holding your hand as you gave life,
I wished I could bear the pains…
Oh for the first time I looked in your eyes
And felt my bravery down the drains!
All my life I’d seemed to be too strong
To tremble nor least inhabit a fear;
But when I beheld your unthinkable agony,
I lost my guards and shed than a tear.
Right there where I knelt beside you,
Many questions kept rushing my way:
“Will I ever see my lady smile again?
O, will her love for me last another day?”
Then suddenly in a twinkle of an eye,
I was awoken by the cry a one so tender;
So glad my lady made it through at last…
—Not alone, but with a beautiful daughter!
