On The Trail, Meeting My Other I

Once Again

Somewhere from the past
We both wandered here, from different places.

Or, from a future soon
We came back here, to meet again.

Feeling close to this either way...
In tonight’s dreaming, time travelers
Space, Place, and Time, finds us here

Now... together.

                                             ___*___

I wake to see
Your loving eyes as dreamed, now so close…

So very near, our hearts touching... once again
Two souls singing softest melodies of joy, in meeting.

‘Do you remember me too?’ she asks
‘Say truly... for this I do wonder
Pray tell me also, Yes…’

                                                      ___*___

“Yes…” comes smiling to my lips
“My dreams are true as yours

With this ‘yes’, as that in pasts repeating…
When we two did also offer
Each other needed respite.

Joining into softest comforts
From bitter loneliness's...
That then, now in now, we could feel as real.”

                                                    ___*___

Oh, cried I loud singing...
In chatoyant dreams ascending

“Do you truly know me as well
As I seemingly do know you?

Or, is this just a dreaming farce…
Both of us sounding
From within a vast game of chance
We both only hoped play as true.

For most poems do abruptly end
And leave readers wondering…

Wandering far afield like us
Sounding such sad, quiet goodbyes…
What is true?”

She replied softly...‘In romance, having each left
With only own sad memories held.’

“Except now,” I quickly replied.

                                                          ___*___

“For decades of ages have passed us.”

‘And all this, knowing’, she murmured back
‘Into shared life, here, life lives only melded into pasts
Into moments… parts of night’s dreaming.’

“Yet now”, sang my soul rising
“See my life and yours again together, meeting…”

‘Like chimes forecast’ she finished the thought...
‘Ringing out now as true bells, lighting the skies.’

“Do you truly know me?” I asked.

                                                          ___*___

‘Is this a question to answer’, came the reply
‘To something true
We already know as known?

Belay any answer, not to confound me
To confuse my mind with channeled memories tough

For whether past or future
All knows me as loving… only you

And that one day
We become truly whole again, and home.’

Within a great, gentle softness
As we again bathed in tears of joy
Melded together…

“Rest us together like this again then,” I said

“For just being here today, in these dreaming moments...
Is quite well enough.”
