Pack Poem
the burden of love weighs us down
and throws our spine for a curve
can't breathe a breath, might even drown
or worse, maybe just loose our nerve
to run like a ram for a highland crag
with love's lush greenery far below
with only the wind to be whispered to
and a beautiful view of life's limbo
but, steady we can find sure footing
on the slopes of our dangerous actions
and careless comments without putting
ourselves on sides of opposing factions
silently like a reliable pack animal
we can tote and carry that heavy load
as steadfast burrow or dromedary camel
to bare love's weight down life's road
packed in the sack or borne in the bag
love's load presses the bones that carry
yet light as the breeze flies it's flag
a burden of love can be light and very
easy to withstand, warm as your hand
grasped gently on a cool winter's night
carried strong, a load longed for and
borne together knowing love's delight
