Parachute On the Ground

In skydiving, you jump out a plane from thousands of feet in the air
Headed straight for the ground your only trust and savior is the parachute you’re wearing on your back
Skydiving is the physical representation of being in love
Looking down from the plane as you float higher and higher away from the ground
The plane represents our relationship
Something we said we’d do for a long time but never had the courage too before
Something we both hopped into with the trust and excitement of adventure running through our veins
Something we knew together would take us higher
And higher we went
Flying off the love you and I share
It was time to jump
Or it should of been
We were partners
Giving each other courage through our fears
Having comfort knowing we were in this together
Wishful thinking landing is safely in the ground
That was the plan
Somewhere on the way up I looked down
Seeing how high up I was panic crept in
Instead of trusting you with my worries I distracted myself from my fears
I began to fail you
Excitement radiating from your pores you reassure my acceptance
Multiple times to tell you
Not wanting to ruin our adventure
I keep it all inside
We are finally here
It’s time to jump
Lost in my distraction
I’m not aware I’m pushing you away
No parachute on your back
I was supposed to be your safety
You’re falling
Watching you drop I notice both arms stretched out in front of me palms up
Unintentionally
I pushed you
My actions pushed you out of our relationship
Watching you fall made my heart scream
Parachute on my back I jump
I make my way back to you fast
I can save us
All you have to do is trust me and grab my hands
You don’t
You just look at me
I see the pain in your eyes
I see the weakness in my deceit
 I will catch you baby
Together we will fall safely like planned
I know you don’t trust me
I will grab you and pull the string
Our parachute will sour and once again we’ll be floating
