Love Poem: Purple Heart

Purple Heart

This is about a dove both old & new
whom I loved
through & through
She's coming through like a wave in
tidal form that can only be surfed
from 5 to 2
She lives only in rooms I've tucked
away within a heart
that's gone away
Memories spin the block night & day
out of control like thoughts
gone astray

Weak thinking about her touch for
many days until it came to
an end like Saturday
She brought color to my vision in
many ways until shade
made the optics go away
I saw clearly from the day she
looked away hiding her eyes
in a shy seductive way
We weren't ready for the way it
made us feel when we took
that hit from Cupids stray

Still connected like the net that
reeled us in so we'll never
be apart or separate
I'm seeing visions of a web of
sticky things that our passion
was meant to eviscerate
These words are meant to
commemorate a flame that was
ignited long ago
Eye to eye we meet in unspoken
tones but listen to this song
with loving notes

I conduct this symphony with
closed eyes thinking of her like a
dream of past times
Ever present I can remember those
past times as if they are here
in real time
This is an ode that ages like fine
wine & never gets old
like immortal bodies
We're intoxicated on higher levels
in real time that will never
be sobered by anybody
