Really, Grandpa

A few days ago, I was at my daughter's place some 10 minutes away.
In seeking to comply with COVID-19 advisories, I can't remember when
I last hugged anyone other than my wife. So while visiting with my
19-year-old granddaughter, I made no attempt at showing affection
beyond verbal greetings. Of course, I had done it this way for the du
ration of social distancing rules because we live in different homes,
and my daughter works in a daycare center.

Notwithstanding, upon this visit, my granddaughter reached out to
embrace me, and I quickly hesitated. She immediately detected my
reluctancy and said, "Really, grandpa?". We then embraced for the
first time in weeks. I tell you, when it comes to family, especially
my grandchildren, this quarantine season is ripping me to pieces.
