Love Poem: Red Rover

Red Rover

I burned my tongue on caramel coffee
Though it could be from lies of omission
Doesn’t stop mocha me from talking
Or my emerald eyes from violet vision

He loves me sweet he loves me hot
Lilac lips like lava lilies lemon lures
Freeing fluorescent fear thinking not
Hopeful heart seeks red love as cure

We make peculiar purple passion flowers
Blooming despite lack of light lack of showers
We can teal talk mentally walk for hours
Is it luscious lust or liquid love giving powers

I’m too old to waste white wine energy
Yet I find silver strength turquoise time
He’s much more than a fuchsia friend to me
Dropping helium hints the marrying kind

This relationship is like a steam ship
That moves forward like a slow tango
Every time I say it’s over biting lip
I find it doesn’t decline but it grows

I’m not sure I’m the marrying kind
Rather ruined by life in some ways
I’ve tried to show him but he is blind
I guess he is stubborn and has faith

If time is a test we have had a year
I’m just not ready for marriage dear
Red rover red rover send courage over
For the fire of desire burns steady slower
