Remember
Remember that day when you and I first met?
You were dressed in black denims, a purple shirt and flat shoes;
Your straight hair was pulled back in a neat and tidy way,
Exposing your beautiful face which I frame in all my dreams.
Remember how we always talked through words and thoughts?
Our minds were subtly meshed beyond telepathy;
We finished each other’s sentences and smiled all the while,
And at night, those words were a blanket I cuddled with warmth.
Remember that day we walked on streets passed the malls?
We rarely looked at each other deep in the eyes,
But, we walked so close to each other, stealing secret side-view glances,
How I wish I had stopped you and looked right into your brown eyes.
Remember when we sat near the park as evening approached?
It felt like time had frozen between divine frozen time;
It was then when you shared thoughts that came from your heart,
You told me your heart’s desire to someday paint the town red.
Remember how we grew so close and yet were so apart?
How that we had lovely moments each time we spoke?
Those moments are now memories that stake my fragile heart,
I wish I could rewind time and find a way to amend my mistakes.
Remember the day I saw you before I finally left the city?
I had no words to say to you, but had multitudes to write;
That’s why I wrote you that letter and placed it in your dainty hands,
Stole a glance into your eyes, and walked away with tears in my eyes.
Remember the things I have failed to say,
Remember the words I’ve painted with pens,
Remember my love because it still sets me ablaze;
I always remember that I once loved a rare dame.
