Love Poem: Residue of You

Residue of You

Sitting in front of the fireplace,
thinking melancholy thoughts ...
brooding, dark contemplate
Lonely heat I feel from the flame,
I hear the fire whispering your name
Memories shimmering in the blazing light;
days of pure happiness, nights of sheer delight
I see your smiling face so clear in the flame
Sparkling is your eyes,
dazzling is your silence
As cold darkness covers the room,
wilted joy never to again bloom
I see our love dying in the flame
Dazzling is your lips,
sparkling is your silence
No words said as you’re leaving ...
Diamond grief hardens me,
and the love we knew turns into ashes
Residue of you remains in my heart
Diamonds don’t melt in the fire,
sapphires don’t burn in the flame
In my heart is branded your name
Ice don’t melt in the fire,
diamonds don’t burn in the flame
My life is now empty carbon ashes
Desires don’t melt in the fire,
sapphires don’t burn in the flame
Residue of you is tears of sad ashes
Ice don’t melt in the fire,
diamonds don’t burn in the flame
Residue of you is ashes in an urn
Diamonds glow in the fire,
sapphires sparkle in the flame
Residue of you is a burnt paper with my name,
Diamonds don’t melt in the fire,
sapphires don’t burn in the flame
Still in my broken heart is mended your name
Diamonds glow in the fire,
sapphires sparkle in the flame
Residue of you is loving ashes fire forgiven
