Roses

When he first took her on a date he had gotten her roses,
When he messed up he’d buy her roses,
When she would cry at nights wondering if he’d come home he'd enter with a vase filled with roses,
But somehow she felt as if the love she had for him was starting to die.
Their love was fading this she couldn't deny.
Just like the roses he got her was the lovely blossom of their love periodic?
Would it starting to die during the change of a season?
If he had found a new playmate would his love just fade?
Blossoming again when that season had again changed.
Tired of his playmate she'd guess?
Because tonight he was sweet almost perfect.
But she couldn't ignore the emptiness
For inside her was already dead...
Her questions only lead to arguments,
Guns now delivered with or sometimes replaced her roses,
The fights were more intense and today he brought her guns and roses,
Roses of their love; a gun revealing the hate.
It had been one of his seasonal change soft and sweet,
But the transition from summer's heat,
to a cold winter happened in minutes
How did he allow himself to do it?
Tonight he had killed another rose which bloomed within her.
Why did she bother to complain she wondered?
Thinking he could be forgiven because he just acted out of rage?
But almost every day became the same.
There was no reason to justify what he had done.
So today he bought her beautiful red roses,
Beautiful red ones.
He was dressed in black, shades hiding the resentment in his eyes.
He would have to live with this self hate the way she had lived with hers,
And accept the fact that he pushed her to her breaking point.
Just like her lifeless body now laying there,
These new roses he brought would have soon died.
He killed the last rose that had bloomed within her,
He regretted his selfless act of not trying to be the perfect guy.
He shed tears at his mistakes.
The brokenness of what was once their blooming love
Had started to take toll on her suicidal thoughts,
To continue living she thought would have been another mistake,
One slit to her wrist..."This is the last breath i'll take".
