Seasons and Stars
On a clear summer's night,
Heaven shone upon my face.
I did not comprehend
All the glory of its light.
But everytime I saw
A twinkle and a glimmer,
My attention magnified
The lines my eyes would draw.
Then a harsh winter night
Blew across my laying fields.
Even though I was bundled,
The thousand points of light
Could not attend my eyes
Though the backdrop was black.
In that season all was still;
Why does what is planted dies?
Now a starlit spring night
Brings warmth back to my face,
And the life of the earth
Has recycled in my sight.
Being in and out of love
And back in this love again
Makes me eager to understand
These seasons and stars above.
