Set Things Right

Betrayal devastates your heart, yet he swears he is not at fault. And when the truth refutes his lies, all of your plans come to a halt. Anger and sorrow sever love, cutting the bonds trust created. And replaced with indifference; Hope dies, leaving you frustrated. His lies and deceitful half-truths; say it was an innocent flirt. And he won't admit any wrong, compounding the depth of your hurt. Treating you like a simpleton, he switches on his boyish charm. And refuses to admit fault, swearing he'd never cause you harm. No matter what friends see or say, he always has an alibi. And you cry inside, for you know it's time for you to say goodbye. Abandoning forever dreams; fantasies no longer take flight. And tending to a broken heart, you count on time to set things right.
