Shadows Still Need the Sun
Your zest for life first caught my eye,
you were honest, young, wild, and free.
For you had no reason to lie,
and that innocence intrigued me.
You were a fledgling soul on wing;
such an unexpected delight.
And your eyes, as vibrant as Spring,
sparkled with exuberant light.
Building our dreams on trust and hope;
all fears and doubts got cast adrift.
And for the first time, I could cope;
your support was a treasured gift.
Eyes open; you taught me to look;
and why shadows still need the sun.
And you gave much more than you took;
as two souls melded into one.
