She Was My Everything
She was my everything.
Wanted to give her a ring
And ask her to be my mate
No longer patient to wait.
In the garden on a date,
I bravely tempted fate.
Got down on bended knee
And put forth my plea.
Promised to always be
A faithful spouse to she.
Answering me with a kiss
She granted my fondest wish.
Excited about our wedded bliss
We didn’t hear the snake’s hiss.
Before either of us could move
It struck, delivering death, ever so smooth.
As she closed her eyes, so blue,
My heart already knew.
She would never leave this place
And I gently kissed her sweet face.
As the pastor quietly said grace
Memories surfaced I couldn’t erase.
Happiness was my only goal
Oh, how I miss her gentle soul.
Now life moves ever so slow
And I have nowhere to go.
I no longer hear the angels sing.
I’ve lost my everything.
