She Was The One
Collaboration between Jack Horne and Sara Kendrick
She was the one, the only one
he loved with all his heart,
but she would never marry him
and said that they must part.
She was married and bound by law
It hurt each time they met
Each shell she picked up on the beach
Sang songs of deep regret
He said his love for her was real;
another wouldn't do -
but even then, she'd told him that
alas, their love was through.
Her spouse suddenly passed away
On the white beach she stood,
Awaiting her romantic love
Whom she knew to be good
And so the poet married her;
they had a happy life.
He thanked his lucky stars each day
that she was now his wife.
