Shepherd Boy
Once more in the Christmas spirit - - -
Shepherd Boy
First I saw the East Star, shining Oh so bright
Then I heard the voices through the silent night
It was the angels singing stories from the past
About the prophets’ prophecies – the Messiah’s come at last
They led me to a stable where a babe was fast asleep
And once there at the stable; tears of joy I’d weep
For lying in the manger, his head upon the hay
I saw the new born baby and heard the angels say
Glory to God in the highest
Peace to men of good will
To the world has come the Messiah
And all of my world stood still
Then I looked and the stable was crowded
The shepherds had all come to see
What all the angels had told them
And who this Messiah might be
A babe, just a babe in a manger
One the angels had said would be king
And the glow of love shown in that manger
When the angels again start to sing
Glory to God in the highest
Peace to men of good will
To the world has come the Messiah
Whom all of our dreams will fulfill
We all fell to our knees in the manger
Praised God in the heavens above
And knew in our hearts that this newborn
Would be of God’s greatness and love
And then in the brightness of morning
We finally left then alone
For this child must grow to a young man
Before his true calling is known
But all of us shepherds were changed now
By everything we had observed
Of seeing our Lord in the manger
And His praises from angels we heard
Glory to God in the highest
Peace to men of good will
To the world has come the Messiah
And this love of God’s with us still
