Show Me The Road
John Denver was an avid lover of nature,
the lyrical attachment is reflected
in many of his inspirational songs.
The following poem is inspired by
his popular song “Take me home, country road”,
as a tribute to his musical magnificence
I lie at the fringe of the lonely night
You don’t shine like a star in my sky
Disappear behind the cloud of trance
I’ve lost you, but you were mine once
Sunburst dawn, show me the road
Take me to her dew-drenched meadow
Where my love shines like pearl
Show me the road, sunburst dawn
Like my desire sunrays mark fiery trajectory
Furrow the blazing trail of my yearning
I can’t trace the track of fading stars above
They disappear like the flicker of your love
Sunburst dawn, show me the road
Take me to her dew-drenched meadow
Where my love will shine like pearl
Show me the road, sunburst dawn
You walk away from my winter wasteland
But you’ll find love not lost in the wilderness
If you stand by my side at the sunrise show
You’ll see the hued horizon set us aglow
Sunburst dawn, show me the road
Take me to her dew-drenched meadow
Where my love will shine like pearl
Show me the road, sunburst dawn
Show me the road in sunburst dawn
Show me the road in sunburst dawn
