Silver Tongue
Love was a pretext for lust;
and once again, I was fooled.
And as you betrayed my trust,
love's smoldering embers cooled.
Flattery blinded my eyes;
obscuring your true intent.
And imaginative lies
quickly quelled my discontent.
Unconcerned about my fate,
you hijacked my hopes and dreams.
And by dangling love as bait;
took my feelings to extremes.
Love sounds like a fairytale
when spun by a silver tongue.
Yet, it's a deceitful tale;
to trick the gullible young.
