Smile
Don’t mourn approaching darkness;
It will only bring you woe.
Before each sunset disappears,
Admire its fiery glow.
Before the floral meadows fade,
Appreciate their grace.
Before the warmth of summer’s spent,
Return its rare embrace.
Before the winter freeze impedes,
Attempt a mountain climb.
Before the iron tempers,
You may land a blow sublime.
Before you hibernate tonight,
Compose fresh poetry.
Recite it to yourself and feel
How free it is to be.
Before this musing turns too trite,
Come laugh with me awhile.
Before our love of life concludes,
We have our time to smile.
