Something Awoke
I was drifting in a senseless daze.
Comfortably numb, unloving and unliving.
You awoke something deep in me.
Something lost since the time of innocence.
Life, returned, love, returned.
Longing as new and old, as beautiful and wrenching as I could ever remember or imagine.
I wish I didn’t have to miss your face, your laugh, your eyes and wisdom.
But I do.
