Sonnet 13 Conquered
Sonnet 13 Conquered
You brought a wildness that could not be tamed.
Conquered were all my instincts to resist.
Soon came the heartache of deep rooted pain.
And even in the love did joy desist.
Release me from infatuation’s grasp!
Passion and hurt in you are two in one.
How can it in a living mind still last?
My heart was just a toy you used for fun.
Yet are there quiet moments in the din.
These are good times that bad times cannot mar.
Daydreams of lands and places we have been,
cause me each day to smile; forget the scar.
It’s very plain that you can’t love me back
In blind surrender I accept this fact
