Sorrowful Soul
This house is so quiet as I sit here alone,
My mind is a prison I made on my own.
The beating of my heart plays a broken song,
Why didn't I realize it was me that was so wrong?
The memories they flow like a tidal wave,
I drown in their pain, now regret is my master and I am it's slave.
Couldn't I see it was so fragile when I held it in my hands,
No, instead I crushed your love with blame, lies and demands.
I hear your whispers in the summer breeze,
It sounds like your footsteps in the rustling leaves.
Your kisses are the air I need so desperately to breathe,
Your love was the light without it I can't see.
In all of God's creation I see you there, near and far you are everywhere,
So now I beg for forgiveness each night in my prayers.
Nothing is left, I only wait for death to parole me from time,
For I know in eternal slumber I can dream you are still mine!
