Sunset
Hesitant, I look up at the sunset,
Hoping he doesn't catch glimpse
Of the look in my eyes.
The first time I saw you;
Your rays burst the sky a blue hue,
I'd glance in adoration,
Quietly feeling every breath
Of blind warmth.
I would find myself wishing for clouds
To transparently block you,
Just for the chance of an undiscovered
Sighting.
I shared small, precious moments of
Bigness and of discovery,
If only for a second or so,
When you accidentally shone over me.
All this time,
Through all my
Awkward bliss,
You've been cascading,
Cascading.
Blinking tight, I gather all that
I've ever felt uncomfortable with
And trade my uneasy glances
For one, single
Unwavering gaze.
My legs begin to shake,
But this weakness feels almost fitting.
With those insecure moments behind me,
I just stand,
Just stand and gaze into you,
My forbidden sunset.
