Swept Away
For far too long
I was high and dry
Bending stiffly like a skyscraper,
Head and shoulders above it all,
Touching the sky perhaps but
Stretched to the breaking point
And still not in control…
The light of self-importance
Was all I ever really saw,
So elevated was my viewpoint.
Never before was I light like a balloon
Or enveloped by a cloud
For whom direction has no meaning
And whose height is an abstraction…
Both as meaningless as politics,
Control, intellect, beauty or money.
But now I'm swept away
Caught by the current,
Bobbing in the waves,
But still blowing bubbles,
Riding an avalanche
Of new fallen, unsettled snow,
Though I am feeling no pain,
Fear and cold of no consequence,
New life by breathing in love,
Comforted, covered by love,
Found only in Love’s immediacy,
The moisture of Love’s breath.
