Taste of You
The cane grows tall and straight in the verdant
field where we played in our naive youth,
the purple stalks reflecting sweet
memories in your bright eyes.
How I laughed as the drops
smeared viscous liquid
all over your
beautiful,
youthful
face.
As
you grew
so did my
feelings for you,
laughter to ardent
smiles, as I saw you change.
Now, as the cane juice drips off
your soft chin, no more do I laugh.
I long to taste the sweetness of you,
each sweet drop, bits of sugar in my heart.
