Teardrops
My first tear fell trickling down my cheek last night.
Too soon, no longer would she be a vision in my sight.
I tossed and turned, unable to find a moment of rest.
Tomorrow would pass quickly I swore to give my best.
The second tear spilled, as my feet touched the floor.
The pain was much worse, more intense than before.
Stumbling to the door, a third and fourth my eyes did reap.
I dug down even deeper, so she wouldn’t see me weep.
In rivulets came the next six, I prayed she’d find peace.
Many more followed as we lingered over our final feast.
The last tear that fell, was from my true love’s cheek to mine.
On the last beat of my heart, I wished we had more time.
