Tethered To a Moment
I recall the moment I first met you,
my heart practically jumped from my chest.
For, at that magical moment, I knew
that you were different from all the rest,
and I smiled when your smile came into view.
Time stopped, locking that feeling forever
in the memory of my heart and soul.
There's no doubt in my mind whatsoever
that I was broken, yet you made me whole,
a bond that even death cannot sever.
Love can be traced to that moment in time;
that epitome of a happy thought.
You gave me your heart, as I gave you mine,
and doubt was replaced by the joy love brought;
for even belated hope tastes sublime.
Tethered to that moment, reality
and fantasy intertwine in my mind.
And I liken our first meeting to be
like regaining sight after being blind,
and slowly realizing I can see.
