That Perfect Kiss
Facing lies and nagging doubts,
you start to feel like a dunce.
For your heart is being pulled
in two directions at once.
In a world of denial,
reality disrupts dreams.
And you spend long, lonely nights,
awakened by silent screams.
Sifting possibilities,
you separate lies from truth.
And grieve the lost innocence;
you squandered on hopes of youth.
Acid tears tend to increase
the longevity of pain.
But time slowly numbs the hurt,
so you can dream once again.
Love's allure is magical,
offering eternal bliss.
And risking a broken heart,
you bet on that perfect kiss.
