The Blue Daisy

I visited my husband's grave each day,
To be close to where my husband lay.
It gave me solace in my deep grief.
Death had taken my truelove like a thief.

I arrived at his grave one day in the summer heat,
And a single blue daisy greeted me so sweet.
Each day that week there was an exquisite blue daisy.
I wondered who was leaving this lovely flower daily.

Days later the mystery was solved of this act so kind.
It was a woman from the past I didn’t expect to find.
His first wife from years ago placed the daisy on his grave.
She left it in memory for the love that he gave.

I did not speak to her or interrupt her gracious deed.
Sorrow knows no bounds when the heart bleeds.
Daisy was a name he used to call her with affection.
I respected her grief, and could sympathize with her adoration.
