The Cage of Love
You say you love the mountains high,
But never reach to touch the sky.
You say you love the ocean’s waves,
Yet fear the path the water paves.
You say you love the river’s song,
Yet flee before it pulls you along.
You say you love me; still, I see,
Your love was never meant for me.
You say love burns like a fire’s glow,
But why not feel its warmth to know?
You say it’s like the ocean deep,
But fear the plunge and choose to weep.
You say it’s like the wildest breeze,
But clip your wings and never seize.
And though you claim your heart is mine,
Your silence shows it’s just a line.
You say you love what’s pure and true,
Yet hide behind a veiled unview.
You say you cherish every hour,
Yet chase a dream beyond your power.
You say the journey brings you peace,
Yet rush to make the travels cease.
You say you love me—still, you stray,
And build more walls with each delay.
You say you love the dawn’s first light,
Yet sleep away its golden sight.
You say you love the moon’s ascent,
Yet miss the moments heaven’s lent.
You say the stars fill you with grace,
Yet close your curtains, hide your face.
You say you love me, but I doubt,
For love like yours shuts others out.
You say you love the sweetest sound,
Yet silence melodies around.
You say you crave the quiet hue,
Yet fill the void with chaos, too.
You say you love the echoes clear,
Yet drown them out in what you fear.
And though you speak of love with ease,
Your heart is bound—it will not please.
You say you long for freedom’s wings,
But tether fear to all it brings.
You say you love the wild, untamed,
Yet flee before it calls your name.
You dream to soar, to reach the sky,
Yet hold the ground, afraid to try.
You say you love me, but you flee—
Your love’s a cage, not meant for me.
Still, I can’t let go.
I keep falling into this love, deeper and deeper.
I know you may never be mine,
Yet I cast my doubts into the wind,
Hoping, somehow, you’re my forever.
For in my heart, you’ve taken root,
An unshakable presence, day and night.
And still, I pray that one day,
You’ll choose to stay.
