The Chair
Sat with his children on his lap
The proudest man alive
He thought he had the whole wide world
Right there by his side.
So soon all he had was lost
Before he had chance to moan
He found himself sitting in that chair
But this time all alone.
He looked round for his babies
They were nowhere to be seen
Only dust and fallen memories
Of where they once had been.
He still hears their laughter
Echo round the hall
He can’t believe how much he lost
He thought he had it all.
