The Depth of Love
THE DEPTH OF LOVE
My pen drips of sorrow and on this paper I write each tear
I've lost the one whom I love so dear
He's gone from me like a wisp of smoke
The moment he left, my poor heart broke
Velvet rose petals – crimson red
Plucked from the bier where her love lay dead
In her face is seen grief and sorrow
She wonders how she'll face tomorrow
As she recalls the day they met
At this small country church she'll never forget
The day they were wed in marital bliss
The years they shared, now to be missed
In this same little church, she comes today
To mourn for her lover who passed away
The one who, like yesterday, it seems
Fulfilled the desires of her every dream
Death came too soon to her soul mate
Their life together had been so great
Laying before her in sweet repose
Appearing as if in a peaceful doze
Who can bring comfort to one so distraught
Whose mind is filled with just one thought
The thought of living her life alone
Now that her only love is gone
But there's comfort unequal, sent from above
From the God of Heaven through His great love
The serenity is felt in a warming way
With a peace that she knows is there to stay
Though her life has been totally changed forever
She has a love that will leave her never
A love that paid the ultimate price
That only comes from Jesus Christ
