The End of An Argument
You lie next to me
Your body glistening in the yellow moonlight
Damp with sweat from the August air
How much I long to kiss you
I want so badly to tell you I love you
You back presses against my chest
I can feel your breathing, your heartbeat
But you will not make a sound
My empty arms try to hold you
But you pull away
Retreating into your deep silent world
Is there anything you want to say?
Or did you say it all during our fight?
A silly fight we never should have had
Now I long for your voice
To look into your eyes
I pray for our feet to touch
So that I can know that we will be alright
And I can love you again
