The Eyes Have It
Those orbs of color dotted black inside.
With horror or amazement, large they grow,
and sometimes with delight they open wide
as lashes lush and long perhaps they show.
At times your orbs look up; another pair
is looking back as if to smile at you!
They might be nearly onyx; they might be fair -
a gray or green or lovely hue of blue.
Their color does not matter; in the eye
of the beholder is where beauty lies.
Perhaps the one beholding you will sigh.
Will love soon brightly shine forth from those eyes?
Sweet it is to gaze at someone knowing
the eyes have it, and they now are glowing!
