The Farthest Star
The mountain’s crest was e’er too low
I reached for the farthest star up there
With motivation in its promising glow,
The future encouraged me everywhere.
Throughout life new avenues beckoned
If it was possible, I sought to achieve it,
Limited only by place and time reckoned
Seeking those home runs, the ball I hit.
Coming to the end of my days satisfied,
I’ve pressed forward despite limitations
Knowing in all, I’ve preserved my pride
I’ve no time to indulge in lamentations.
Although lately I find myself moving slow,
The mountain’s crest is still too low.
