The Fight
Everything you depicted and described,
Was everthing I saw in his eyes,
Underneath all the alcohol, all that I didn't know,
Was a man trapped in darkness who had no control,
The addiction was sneaky and tried to hide all that was wrong,
My love stayed through the silence and listened to his song,
We think love can heal all wounds and so we remain,
Until we must leave in order to spiritually intervene,
At this point we have no other choice, but to stand from a distance,
Because if we get too close, they will manifest resistance,
Distance is just as much love as remaining close is,
Because we know our love for one another is eternal, and we see it from within,
We will sacrifice the physical closeness in order to fight,
And stand against the darkness in faith in the light,
The stance you must take when your heart feels the pain,
Of knowing you will never physically see that person again,
But by faith your eyes see different love eternally bound,
Knowing that God is removing strongholds, giving love more ground,
And He shows you the deepness, you cry tears for their soul,
And He speaks to your spirit how to intercede and let go,
Sometimes it's within minutes, or hours or days,
And sometimes it's years He wants you to stay,
Waiting on Him, watching, and loving all at the same time,
Repetitive and rewarding, yet also heart-wrenching sometimes,
The fight is intense, but the faith undoubtedly knows,
That this is loves battle, while your heart overflows,
And knowing one day I will see,
You once again eternally,
