The Forest of Inner Twilight
The Forest of Inner Twilight
By Hugo
When the waking veil is lifted
And the shimmering mist disappears
We find ourselves in a forest
Full of hopes, dreams and fears
Here amidst the hollow trees
Among the dust and brittle bones
We find all that we have sacrificed
And all whom we have known
It is here among the wreckage
Of the countless broken me's
That our darkest moments linger
In places no one ever sees
No birdsong haunts this forest
And no light there pierces your eyes
It's a place of tears and twilight
And echoes of distant cries
For when the waking veil is lifted
And slumber's deep dark returned
We find ourselves in a forest
Where once a bright light had burned
