The Fun House Mirror
I looked in the mirror as I do everyday.
But I was looking at it in a different way.
I have worked hard to get to this place,
I could look in this mirror and see my own face.
I now saw my image as it was, I was free,
of the lies, the insults that he had thrown at me.
The distorted reflection that I had seen was no longer there.
Yet, I was afraid to get closer, did I dare?
What if I finally see the real me,
and realize that I don't like what I see?
I had lived with this distortion and illusion for so long,
would I see truth or find that I have been wrong?
I cautiously looked at my reflection once more,
I saw just me, and then I was sure.
The funhouse mirror was gone, out of sight.
I see only me, a little older, a little worn, but alright.
