The Games You Play

Promises of yesterday melt like footprints in the snow. And tears can't wash lies away; no matter how hard they flow. Love is a lesson in trust; yet you don't mean what you say. Your heart is tethered to lust; and I'm feeling led astray. Stoking love's funeral pyre; doubt turns everything to ash. And when it gets set on fire, hope burns within anger's flash. Time confirms what rumors say, my life is in a sad state. Love is more than a cliché, that you've misused as of late. You're no longer in control; I won't play the games you play. Don't toy with my heart and soul, damn you; leave and stay away.
