Love Poem: The Half-Love

The Half-Love

What is selfless love,
When not loving ourselves becomes detrimental?
Does a tiger not lick its own paw
To assuage the bruise?
Does a bird not repair it's own nest
After the rainstorm?

Does a writer not write
When caught in the eye of senseless
Confusion?

Selfless love means there is no self.
To love yourself as much as the other
because there is no difference...

But try to tell anyone that
They'll agree, certainly,
But they will not abide.

Their paw, their nest, is theirs.
And a writer writes surely for himself, yes,
But he also writes to sort these very issues out.

Just like me.
So I've made my little circle
But have left tracks along the way
So I can always re-trace my steps
To find where I begin,
Where I disappear,
And when I ever end--in the round and round I go.
