The I Forgot
The clouds are dark and puffy,
it’s another stormy day,
and I forgot my own name
in the presence of beauty and charm.
My eyes melt into honey,
and my heart forgets how to beat,
and my mouth utters words
that quickly turn into gibberish.
I long to touch your beautiful skin,
to caress your silky brown hair,
and to kiss those thin and delicate lips,
but you’re so far away
and I don’t even know you.
You see me and smile
and come closer.
You ask me my name but nothing comes out.
I stare and stare,
and gently,
I whisper,
“I forgot."
