The Light
My eyes cannot tolerate the bright
And although I must sit in darkness
I am still able to see the light
Vision blurred takes its toll
As it disappears on the grassy knoll
The sunset so beautiful to see
Keeps the light so close to me
I become afraid this is so true
When you're afraid a message from me to you
It truly is a gift to sit in the night
And still be able to see the light
Hold your children, hold them near
For we know not the moment we will no longer be here
And when they do acts that are not right
It is your job to show them the light
Be kind to those who love you and you should see
We must also love our enemy
And when our enemy wants to fight
Pray for them to see the light
When the days are hard and long
You're hurting and all seems so wrong
Look into the darkness and say unto the night
God help me to keep seeing the light
