The Mourning After
He recalls, clearly as if it plays out for him,
How her smile had weakened him, brought him
Powerless before her very love, her sight
With his own smile, he daydreams of her and
How they held passion between them
So heated, on the morning after, that very night
He sees his mistake upon waking, his departure,
How ill timed and impersonal it had seemed
He now wishes, he could go back, but cannot
Now left only to recall her in his lonely dreams
