The Oak and the Breeze
If I were an oak and you were the breeze
Would you whisper softly and put me at ease?
Would you cradle me as the seasons pass
Would you make me bend like a blade of grass
Soothe me, sway me, forsake other trees
And love only me if you were the breeze?
If I were the breeze and you were an oak
Would you welcome me into your lace lichen cloak?
Would you dance with me throughout winter and spring
Would you surrender the leaves to which you still cling
As you feel my soft breath upon you evoke
The pleasantest shiver if you were an oak?
