The One and Only
You have Aunts and Sisters far and near,
The ones you hold so very dear,
Writing letters, talking on the phone,
Wishing so much they were still home.
Then there are Mothers that you love so true,
Who would do anything in the world for you,
That special bond that nothing can break
That took so many years in which to make.
Yet there's still someone above the rest,
Who I think is the very best.
She is so special and gives so much
With a kind word or a gently touch.
Filling your days with joy and laughter,
Putting others first, always herself after.
She's so unselfish, caring too,
Someone I've always looked up to.
She was my role model as I grew,
Sharing with me her important views.
She has so many tales to tell,
Ones that I know all too well.
So many different and exciting places,
So many stories and so many faces.
"Walking five miles in the snow",
"To get to school", don't you know?
Always mentioning her cats and cows,
How they go "moo" and also "meow".
But I don't mind at all
As I watch her make these dolls.
We're so close and so much alike;
Always making sure I had a decent bike.
That was something I never went without,
She loved me without a doubt.
Childhood memories never left behind,
They're always close in my mind.
She fascinates me in so many ways,
Her long life and fun-filled days.
Keeping a smile on her lovely face,
Which is exactly the perfect place.
So, have you finally guessed who,
Or should I give you a clue?
She gives lots of hugs, plenty of kisses,
And enjoys granting all of your wishes.
She's know for giving sweets galore,
But isn't that what Grandmas are for?
