The Pain From His Eyes
Today I awaken to a thick black cloud
Low pressure is heavy on my head
To wake up to such a dismal day
How I yearn for the sunshine instead
For me the sun will shine again
I know that this will happen
For my dearest brother and his dear wife
This thick black cloud is here for life
For even when the sun does shine
A thick black cloud hangs overhead
Alzheimer’s disease is there all the time
As it worms its way deep inside her head
It breaks my heart to see her decline
From a loving mother and wife
She now needs help to continue living
Alzheimer’s affects the whole family’s life
On rising each day my brother must have
pressure crushing down hard on his head
the blackest, darkest, heaviest cloud
such trepidation for the day that’s ahead
Unable to express his deepest thoughts
He gets on with his life instead
But cannot hide the sadness in his eyes
his feelings he seems to internalize
Of course this disease is in his head too
No escaping the carnage arising
He cannot ignore, for in front of his eyes
is this evil disease, he is truly despising
One day I pray his sun will arise
As slowly it removes all pain from his eyes
But of course this will mean his dear wife will have gone
To a much kinder place where her soul will live on
