The Thought of You
My heart seizes and time stops,
The blood rushes to my head and I can't talk,
The thought of you washes over me,
I drown in the pleasure of your company,
What could I say that would not reveal,
A man turned to boy feeling so surreal,
You are a vision causing most reasonable mind to fall to cliché,
My sorrow the moonlight and you; a summer's day,
Your beauty radiates beyond the guise of skin,
It takes form in your laugh and from your eyes within,
I have taken a mere glance at the woman beneath,
And felt the joys of her love for a fleeting beat,
I am not myself shaped jagged and distant,
For I see your smile and my world crumbles in an instant,
Our eyes lock and I am traveling through space,
The possibilities of our love as countless as the stars we'll chase,
Your perfumed fragrance fills my lungs afresh,
As my head starts to swim to its tune; weightless,
Many a writer yearn for inspiration in experience,
They have not found even one moment with you invokes brilliance,
I fear I would only awaken and would be as it seemed,
Your touch is but simply a desperate man's dream,
You place your hand in mine and I am yet grounded again,
For I am not a religious man but to this feeling, amen.
