The Wedding
The wedding
His feet planted firmly on the floor as out the front of the crowd he waits,
Pangs of nervous anticipation cling to him like iron weights.
Lonely in a crowd, he feels, as he gazes out across the room,
The culmination of a love affair begins to thread its final, golden loom.
Not long now until he sees her elegantly, sweep down the isle,
Possessed with a swan like grace, she makes his heart servile.
The enormity of impending marriage punctures through his soul,
Where two become one, loves fulfilling, ultimate goal.
With vivid clarity his thoughts are cast to the day that they met,
Spied her beauty in a crowded room, loves appetite was wet.
A courtship spawned their romance bloomed, somehow they would know,
That a friendship was formed, a special bond into love would grow.
As she walks down the isle, smiling brightly her face a radiant bloom,
Assured by his confidence, the man she loves fills the room.
She whispers to her father, saying, “I know this is right”
Shares a smile with her mother, she looks beautiful in white.
From the day of wedlock you will never ever be alone,
Whatever life brings, wherever you are your spouse is your home.
Many have passed through this gate it times past,
Be ever watchful and to good marriage advice hold fast.
As time passes by the memory of this day will wax old,
You just have to be strong and make sure love never grows cold.
It would be foolish to believe in a fairytale love affair,
Love has to be worked for with commitment and care.
Marriage is the gift that each of you chose,
A gift highly valued, like a crimson red rose.
Live every day of your life with God as your guide,
Always give more than your groom or your bride.
